On Saturday, at a rodeo in Sisters, Oregon, chaos broke out when a bull got out of the arena and ran through the event grounds, hurting three people, including a sheriff’s officer.
First responders say that two people were taken to the hospital because they were hurt.
The accident happened at Sisters Rodeo around 10 p.m. PT on Saturday, during the last part of the bull-riding event. A statement from Sisters Rodeo said that the bull, which was competing at the event, jumped the ring fence and ran out through the grounds and back to the herd holding pens.
A video from the event that was shared on social media showed the bull hitting and pulling someone off the ground twice.
There were no details known about the attendee’s current health.
The event organizers said in a statement that “rodeo livestock professionals quickly responded to safely contain the bull.” They also said, “It was secured next to the livestock holding pens by our rodeo pickup men and immediately placed into a pen.”
ABC News was told by Lt. Jayson Janes of the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office that the officer got hurt while running after the bull after it got away. It wasn’t clear how the third person got hurt in the fight.
Event organizers say that the Rodeo Sports Medicine Team, Sisters-Camp Sherman RFPD, Cloverdale RFPD, rodeo workers, and local police all came right away to help with first aid and care.
The Sisters Rodeo went on with its planned activities on Sunday as planned.
