A woman has been arrested on charges of stealing from graves in Mississippi.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says that Becky Reeves, 50, from the Athens area, has been arrested after several people reported missing things from a gravesite in the area.
Two counts of petit theft will be brought against Reeves for taking things from graves in the Amory and Hatley area.
Thanks to a tip from a person who heard about how many things were being stolen from the graveyard, deputies were able to find some of the stolen items.
As of now, two people have come forward to press charges. Other charges may still be coming.
If you or someone you care about recently had things taken from a loved one’s grave in Monroe County, even if it was in a city, the Monroe County Sheriff’s office says you should talk to Deputy Thomas Adams at Monroe County Justice Court in Amory any weekday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. In this case, the sheriff’s office and the Amory police department are both working together.
