Microsoft (MSFT) unveiled the launch of a paid version of its generative AI-driven Copilot platform for individual consumers.
This offering, named Copilot Pro, comes with a monthly subscription fee of $20 per user. Subscribers to Copilot Pro will benefit from various additional features, including access to the latest AI models and enhanced AI image generation through Image Creator from Designer.
This strategic move aligns with Microsoft’s objective to capitalize on its substantial investment in ChatGPT developer OpenAI and capitalize on the momentum surrounding generative AI that gained traction in 2023.
Copilot Pro by Microsoft: GPT-4 Turbo Priority
According to Microsoft, Copilot Pro has been designed for individual users seeking priority access to models such as GPT-4 Turbo, OpenAI’s latest release, especially during peak usage hours to enhance overall performance.
Additionally, subscribers can utilize Copilot across Microsoft’s Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote applications.
Microsoft states that Copilot Pro will deliver a unified experience across PC, web, apps, as well as iOS and Android platforms.
Copilot Pro: Customize GPTs for Your Interests
This subscription offering will encompass access to Image Creator and the flexibility to personalize Copilot GPTs for specific subjects, whether related to fitness, cooking, or any other area of interest.
In addition to introducing Copilot Pro, Microsoft has declared the removal of the minimum user limit for Copilot for Microsoft 365.
Previously restricted to companies acquiring licenses for 300 seats or more, this change now extends the software’s availability to small and medium businesses.
Copilot for Microsoft 365 integrates Copilot into Microsoft’s suite of productivity applications, including Word, Excel, OneNote, Teams, and more.
The enterprise version of the software empowers companies to extend Copilot to their internal data, enabling them to search for and synthesize their own content, not solely relying on external web data.
The pricing for access to this service is set at $30 per user per month.
